In the Garden is a series of playful portraits of local gardens and the gardeners who make them.

A keen interest in all things botanical has led me to visit and to work in many wonderful gardens and meet gardeners of all varieties.

It was a natural step to then portray some of these on canvas especially in this, The Year of the Garden here in the Garden City.

Liz Hayden has gardened and made art here in the Garden City since 1997.  Taking the long way round with most things, she maintained her interest in visual art and eventually earned a Honours B.A. in Studio Art from Brock University in 2006. Liz has worked with a wide variety of media over many years and is currently focussed on painting. She is always game to visit a new garden.
