Carole Pope is an agent provocateur pushing the boundaries of sexuality, sexual politics, and the status quo. Her seminal band Rough Trade was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020 and were leaders in the eruptive QSW art scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Pope has toured with David Bowie and performed at Fashion Cares 25 with Elton John. She has played in all kinds of joints and at all kinds of scenes from The Brooklyn Museum of Art to The Viper Room to San Francisco’s Pride Parade. She has contributed music to film and television, including The L Word, The Trailer Park Boys Movie, and Queer As Folk. Carole Pope’s work has been recognized with three Junos, a Genie and four gold, one platinum, and one double platinum album.
The legendary Carole Pope appears in the Microcinema at the Niagara Artists Centre to a limited audience of 40 persons. She will be joined by Tim Welch on guitar, formerly of Image In Vogue. NAC members Routine Exploits will provide video art manipulations to accompany the performance.
