Carlos Morgan is passionate about music. And he wants to share his passion and his knowledge of the Black Canadian music with you at a special presentation at the Niagara Artists Centre. Winner of a Juno Award for Best R&B / Soul Recording for “Feelin’ Alright”, and founder of Solroc Records, Carlos will present a 40 minute multi-media presentation about Black Canadian artists and their influence on the national music scene.
“Even though I’m Black artist, singer and songwriter in Canada, I wasn’t educated about the contributions of Black artists and musicians in Canada,” Morgan explains, “Musicians such as Oscar Peterson, Portia White, Eleanor Collins, Maestro Fresh Wes, and many others are an integral part of our cultural identity, and have laid the foundation for music in Canada, though they are not widely known. This is why I am passionate about sharing the history of Black Music in Canada.”
There will be a reception post event and attendees are also encouraged to join Carlos at the opening of the Oasis Cocktail Bar at 108 St. Paul Street where co-owner DJ Mobanzo will perform including songs by great Black Canadian artists.
