The Black Power Mixtape 1967–1975 (2011)
Sweden, 2011. 100 min. R

A Swedish documentary film assembled from long-lost 16mm footage and directed by Göran Olsson, examines the Black Power movement in the US from 1967 to 1975 as viewed through Swedish journalists and filmmakers. It features footage of the movement shot by Swedish journalists at the time. It features appearances by Angela Davis, Bobby Seale, Huey P. Newton, Eldridge Cleaver, and other activists, artists, and leaders central to the movement.

A brave, unofficial and impressionistic history of the Black Power movement that America at one point tried to suppress–an informal history that could only be told by outsiders. The Black Power Mixtape was shortlisted for the prestigious Grierson Award for Best Documentary at the London Film Festival and won the World Cinema Documentary Editing Award at the Sundance Festival.
