Two positions: 
Gallery Assistant
Film Programming Assistant

YBBE is an innovative youth employment programme that aims to stimulate the Ontario economy by training youth aged 15-30 (inclusive) and matching them with a quality employment placement.

Interns hired through the YBBE Program will receive follow ups from YBBE regarding their work with  NAC, must participate in workshops from YBBE, must fill out a survey before and after internship agreement and must complete a blog and supply a photo of themselves during their internships

GALLERY ASSISTANT

30hrs per week / $20 per hour

Job Description
Gallery Assistant

Working closely with NAC staff, the Gallery Assistant will help with the programming and organization of exhibits in all four galleries and special events on the rooftop patio and show mobile. The candidate will also manage the front of house responsibilities of the gallery which include greeting guests and providing information about the centre, the exhibits, and ongoing programming activities, as well some administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Gallery Assistant will:

  • work in cooperation with NAC Staff to develop contracts for artists, performers, and literary artists
  • be involved in the promotion and marketing of exhibits and special events which will include the development of press releases, website event pages, and online social media content
  • assist in the installation of exhibits in NAC’s four gallery spaces
  • set up for ancillary events like artist talks and Q+As 
  • perform front of house and box office such as checking in ticket-holders
  • be willing to learn and develop skills for live events and to operate stage, sound, and lighting equipment
  • be responsible for uploading photos and videos to NAC’s website and populate social media channels with content
  • assist in collecting testimonials and feedback from audience members and contributing artists for use in future applications and promotions
  • help compile and communicate data and statistics for our grant reporting systems
  • assist in financial management including bill payments and preparations for bookkeeping
  • assist in organizing volunteers for events

FILM PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT

30hrs per week / $20 per hour

Job Description
Film Programming Assistant

The Film Programming Assistant will support NAC’s ongoing film programming initiatives including the Mighty Niagara Film Fest. Working alongside NAC Staff, the Film Programming Assistant is responsible for working with the programming committee to select films. They will also be responsible for running film screenings which includes the delivery of technical services for film and media events.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Film Programming Assistant will:

  • work in cooperation with NAC Staff to secure and prepare media for gallery programs at NAC as well as the Mighty Niagara Film Fest 
  • work with filmmakers and distributors to acquire films to be presented in outdoor venues and indoor cinemas
  • build playlists of media content for designated gallery and film festival programs
  • set up for ancillary events such as post-screening Q+As with staging, laptop, microphones, projectors as needed for live presentation
  • be willing to learn and develop skills for live events and to operate stage, sound and lighting equipment specific to the film festival
  • perform preventive and general maintenance on equipment (projection systems) and presentation venues (run pre-show sound and lighting tests).
  • be involved in the promotion and marketing of NAC’s year-around film programs and annual film festival helping develop press releases and generating other online content
  • learn to use online sales mechanisms, generate box-office reports and reconcile event revenues and expenses
  • assist in collecting testimonials and feedback from audience members and contributing artists for use in future grant applications and promotion
