Dennis Tourbin Members Gallery at NAC
Opening Reception + Artist Talk Saturday 19 February 2PM

NAC features the work of Toronto artist Robert Small, a visual artist and rights advocate, with an exhibit of his poster work on display at NAC. Robert Small revolutionized the celebration of Black History Month in Canada through his Legacy poster campaign. For his accomplishments, he was recently elected to the Order of Canada, the first African-Canadian visual artist to receive the honour.

Small, a self-taught artist, has promoted Black excellence and power through portrait paintings of African-Canadians and Americans for over 25 years. His work can be found in schools across the country.

The exhibit at NAC is a selection of Robert Small’s Legacy posters from over the years and will be on display at NAC from Saturday 19 February until Saturday 5 March.

An opening reception for Small’s exhibit will be held on Saturday 19 February from 2PM until 4PM where Robert will be joined in a discussion of his art and activism by Erika Smith, a Niagara educator, co-founder of Matter of Black, and a member of the Niagara Region Anti-Racism Association.
