About MNFF

The Mighty Niagara Film Fest (MNFF) is now accepting film submissions for the 2024 film program, to be presented at select venues in Niagara this fall.

MNFF screens films made about or in Niagara by filmmakers with connections to the region and films of particular interest to Niagara audiences.

MNFF accepts recent film and media submissions, including feature and short length, live-action, documentary, animation, and experiments in moving image media.

MNFF is committed to:

Supporting the filmmaking community of Niagara
Showcasing contemporary film and media works including feature and short length, live action, documentary, animation, and experiments in moving image media.
Programming films that reflect Niagara’s diverse and changing community.
Providing a safe, accessible way to see intriguing films connected to Niagara.
Growing community partnerships and engage local businesses.
Maintaining artist fees above industry standards.

Programming Committee

Submissions are reviewed by a programming committee assembled by the Niagara Artists Centre. The committee focuses on developing a program that shares what’s happening in contemporary Niagara filmmaking while also discovering intriguing titles from Niagara’s rich film history.

Eligibility

Submitted films must be made within the Niagara region and/or made by artists residing in the Niagara region, or relevant themes connected to the Niagara community.
All genre formats accepted, including; shorts, features, documentaries, fiction, experimental films.
All non-English language films will be required to provide content with English subtitles.
Short films considered under 50 minutes. Features must be over 50 minutes.
All eligible submissions must have been completed after January 2021. A film may only be submitted once in the festival, revised versions will not be considered.

Terms and Conditions

No entry fees to apply
Collective or individual submissions accepted
All languages accepted, non-English dialogue requires English subtitles
Films can be available online and on other platforms and still enter the competition
Artists are paid screening fees based on rates set by the Independent Media Arts Alliance www.imaa.ca in Canadian currency and receive two (2) complimentary tickets to attend their screening event.
Works in Progress are eligible, however films must be completed by media delivery deadline of 6 September 2024.
