YOUTH BREAKING BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT (YBBE)
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT NAC

YBBE is an innovative youth employment programme that aims to stimulate the Ontario economy by training youth aged 15-30 (inclusive) and matching them with a quality employment placement.

Interns must be qualified by YBBE by filling out the following survey here. Resumes and cover letters must be sent to the Niagara Artists Centre by Thursday 10 March 2022 at 11:59PM. Please email artists@nac.org with job title in the subject line.

Interns hired through the YBBE Program

  • will receive follow ups from YBBE regarding their work with  NAC.
  • must participate in workshops from YBBE
  • must fill out a survey before and after internship agreement
  • must complete a blog and supply a photo of themselves during their internships

Assistant Fundraising + Event Coordinator

Assistant Fundraising + Events Coordinator (Internship)
Salary $20/hr at thirty (30 hours a week / 25 weeks)

The Niagara Artists Centre (NAC) is a registered charity and Artist-run Centre, We provide a full range of visual arts, film, and music programming. The Assistant Fundraising and Events Coordinator will work alongside permanent staff to provide organizational and logistical support for NAC’s ongoing fundraising and event activities.

Responsibilities of Assistant Fundraising and Events Coordinator Include:

  • Working alongside NAC staff, develop fundraising and community events
  • Attend and participate at fundraising and other events held by the Niagara Artists Centre
  • Understand and share the  mission of NAC and be able to educate members of the community
  • Communicate directly with community members to help increase awareness and fundraising efforts
  • Accept and accurately record donations and ticket sales
  • Work at front of house conducting ticket and concession sales

Languages: English
Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma
Experience: Any technical experience in cinema projection, sound and lighting for live events/theatre, photography and film and video production. On the job training provided.

Specific Skills: basic understanding of film projectors and other audiovisual equipment; familiarity with software such as Word and Excel are welcome but not necessary; ability to assess risks and follow health and safety practises

Work Setting: Art Gallery, open concept office; Must be able to work flex-time and be available on evenings and weekends.

Film Technician

Film Technician (Internship)
Salary $20/hr at thirty (30 hours a week / 25 weeks)

The Niagara Artists Centre is a registered charity and Artist-run Centre, We provide a full range of visual arts, film, and music programming. Working alongside the Film Programmer and Technical Operations Manager, the Film Technician assists in coordinating and executing technical AV components of film and media presentation, including equipment and file testing, installation and troubleshooting to ensure that all equipment needs for quality playback are met in NAC’s ongoing film and media programming initiatives including the Mighty NIagara Film Fest.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work in cooperation with the Film Programmer to secure and prepare media in program for NAC and the Mighty Niagara Film Fest
  • Safely manage all movie content files and formats from distributors. This includes tracking shipping and receiving of media content
  • Testing and troubleshooting media presentation for audio and video adjustments and quality control
  • Building a playlist with trailers and scheduling it according to the designated program
  • Technical presentation of films , monitoring sound levels, and picture quality
  • Adjust set up for multiple analog and digital formats and other media requests
  • Set up for ancillary events like post-screening Q+As with staging, laptop or microphone as needed for live presentation
  • They will be willing to learn and develop skills for live events and to operate stage, sound and lighting
  • Perform preventive and general maintenance on equipment (projection systems) and presentation venues ( run pre show sound and lights.
  • Maintain up to date inventory on film collection and equipment, proper storage and preservation of films in collection

Languages: English
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Any technical experience in cinema projection, sound and lighting for live events/theatre, photography and film and video production. On the job training provided.

Specific Skills: basic understanding of film projectors and other audiovisual equipment; familiarity with software such as VLC, Quicktime, and FinalCut or Premiere welcome but not necessary; ability to work at heights; and ability to assess risks and follow health and safety practises
