Getting Creative with Motion Picture Film
Hosted by JC Culp
This workshop explores the physical nature and creative possibilities of Super 8, 16mm and 35mm motion picture film as a creative media. In the first part we will watch and discuss examples of creative applications of film such as cameraless animation, looping, scratching, collaging, and multichannel/installation, among others. In the second part you will learn the basic practical aspects of film media – including projection, splicing and digital transfer – in a hands-on session.
The Niagara Artists Centre has a large collection of motion picture film equipment ready for rental to artists, and in this workshop you will learn what can still be done with all of that old, cool gear.
All materials provided.
