The Better Cities Film Festival is back for a third year! The world’s best short-film festival about building more healthy, sustainable and vibrant places returns to St. Catharines for another pay-what-you-can presentation of stories that will change the way you think about your city.
Festival co-sponsors Better Neighbourhoods Inc., and MainStreet Engineering have selected a series of films to complement locally-relevant city-building topics such as active transportation, housing, grassroots placemaking, and the economics of urban growth.
Festival programming has been planned for the whole weekend so you can take what you learned from the silver screen into the streets! Activities include:
FRI 27 OCT 7PM — The last bicycle ride of 2023 with the Niagara GlowRiders, a presentation about the City’s Active Transportation Master Plan, and a dance party at the Fitzgerald Community Garden!
SAT 28 OCT 3PM — Film Festival at The Film House, Join us for a post-screening Q&A with a panel of experienced community-builders and after-party to continue the conversation at the Niagara Artists Centre. Proceeds from this pay-what-you-can screening will go to Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
SUN 29 OCT — Neighbourhood Tours to learn more about grassroots neighbourhood activation, missing middle housing, urban land-use economics, and revisioning a significant city corridor.
