Portrait of Lester B. ‘Mike’ Pearson dedicated to Greta and Harry

Canadian Prime Minister and Nobel Laureate, Mike Pearson, dedicated this portrait taken by Gabriel Desmarais’ reputable Montreal studio on Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal, founded in 1945. Desmarais’s high-contrast black and white photos are reminiscent of Studio Harcourt and he attracted an international clientele living in California, Monaco, and Montreal. He accumulated a catalogue of 150,000 photos and negatives, his archives are kept at the Library of Quebec.
