Vintage Amitabh Bachchan Film Posters
On display in the Dennis Tourbin Members Gallery
Sat 24 June – Fri 30 June

Nine original framed posters from the collection of Dr. Adnan Pirbhai showcasing Bollywood epics from the 1970s and 80s are on display in NAC’s Dennis Tourbin Members Gallery in time for Holi Festival this Saturday. All nine films, ranging in dates from 1972’s Bombay to Goa to Mard made in 1985, star Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan has a film career spanning five decades appearing in over 200 films. He is regarded as royalty in the Indian entertainment industry and one of the greatest actors universally.

Dr. Pirbhai found these posters on a stroll through Chor Bazaar, busy chaotic neighborhood known for its antique and vintage finds, and as one of the oldest and largest flea markets in India, located adjacent to Adnan’s ancestral flat deep in the heart of Mumbai.

After Holi Fest, NAC will screen Don (1978, the film that introduced Bachchan as the original “angry young man” of Indian cinema on the Thomas Craig Oliver Terrace. The screening is pay-what-you-choose and will begin just after dusk (around 8:45PM).
