~ Sock n’ Buskin ~
Ahhh yes, sock n’ buskin. The ol’ ancient theatrical mask of comedy and tragedy that we’ve all seen a thousand times before. But why’s it called that, you might be asking? Well my friends, settle back into that cozy, flea-infested chair of yours, and we’ll tell you all about it. See, in ancient Greek theatre, actors in tragic roles wore a boot called a buskin, while the actors with comedic roles wore only a thin-soled shoe called a sock. Nowadays, we all wear bejewelled crocs, which are both tragic and hilarious at the same time. So we’ve come a long way.

Sean Aileen is a singer-songwriter and theatre artist from St. Catharines, ON. Weaving soft melodies over guitar, Sean’s musical style has been described as introspective acoustic folk and is ever evolving and expanding. With songs written largely over the course of the pandemic in her bedroom as an attempt to capture the transitional and hard-to-put-your-finger-on moments of life, this evening, she is joined by a band of “Soft Animals,” her cherished friends and collaborators who have helped elevate her songs to the next level.

Jon Lepp is a singer songwriter and multidisciplinary artist based in St. Catharines, Ontario. If Lepp could have his Americana and folk music taste like any old meal, it’d be one that’s prepped round a fire of friends, seasoned with lavish ingredients like salt and pepper. A few sprinkles of fingerpicking here, a couple dashes of storytelling there, now that’s a meal! Let’s fake the family recipe together.
