Set in the offices of a radio station in St. Catharines, Wildly Romantic by Norm Foster is a feature-length rom-com. The CFTB Radio Station Manager discovers that her romantic partner who is the “morning man” has been canoodling with the “all night girl”. She gives him the heave-ho and hires a new guy on the spot – experience not required! Add in her Executive Assistant and an inept lawyer looking to sue and wait for the sparks to fly. This is an absolutely delightful comedy by Canada’s most prolific playwright.
During the pandemic, The Foster Festival pivoted, making new plans to premiere their production of Wildly Romantic in February 2022 as a hybrid form of filmed theatre which they distributed digitally via a secured link on their website providing access to Foster Festival patrons around the globe.
Produced and presented by St. Catharines based theatre company, The Foster Festival, and shot at the Accel North offices in downtown St. Catharines. Cinematography by Black Frame Cinema – St. Catharines based video production company.
About the Filmmaker
Jane Spence has had the pleasure of performing and directing in theatres across Canada for the past 22 years. Selected directing credits include Ed’s Garage, Port Stanley Festival Theatre; The Birds and the Bees, Theatre Orangeville; The Julius Caesar Project, Spur of the Moment Shakespeare Company; The Question, Red Sandcastle Theatre; The Little Prince, Compass Theatre; The Exonerated, Vanier College; Auto-Erotic Misadventure for the Pumphouse Festival of One Act plays (awarded Best Director and Best Production). She assisted on: Ghost Island Light, Miracle on 34th street, Sexy Laundry, and Numbers Game at Theatre Orangeville. Upcoming: Halfway There, Lighthouse Festival Theatre.
