About the Filmmaker
David Montes Bernal (Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, 1988) did not study cinematography, but rather thanks to a grant from Ambulante, an itinerant Mexican documentary film festival which also trains and finances promising filmmakers. It was under their aegis that he made his first film, Caress, a twenty-minute documentary that portrays the life of an Afro-Mexican trans woman, which has been seen at festivals, film expositions, as well as special screenings in Mexico, Argentina, and the United States.
Thank you to our venue partners, Landmark Cinemas, who have been presenting short films by local filmmakers all month long in celebration of the Mighty Niagara Film Fest.
